Welcome to Blackfriars @ The Ouseburn

Blackfriars @ The Ouseburn is a Community Centre and venue run by the St Vincent de Paul Society, a voluntary not-for-profit charity dedicated to tackling poverty and disadvantage by providing direct practical help to people in need.

We are only 10-15 minutes’ walk from central Newcastle. Frequent buses stop outside the centre and Manors Metro Station is less than ½ mile away.

Daytime Community Activities

During the day, we host numerous activities, including dance classes and a parent and toddlers group.  Within the complex, we support clients with a variety of mental health issues and disabilities and offer client based art therapy and music appreciation.

Functions and Events

We have a large hall with capacity for 240 people. This has a sprung dance floor, (one of the last remaining in the region), a stage, full catering facilities and a licensed bar. The proximity to the city centre means that guests don’t have to worry about drinking and driving, as the hall has easy access for buses, taxis or the metro. Alternatively, guests can stay in one of the numerous hotels in the City.

gallery04This makes Blackfriars @ The Ouseburn a fantastic venue to host your wedding, celebration, gig or corporate event. The Hall is available for private hire at very reasonable rates throughout the year and every booking helps the SVP continue our good work. Details can be found on our functions page.

We also have an IT suite and large conference room, which can be hired out for smaller events, children’s parties, conferences or meetings.  Click here.
