Bar Services

Blackfriars @ The Ouseburn offers a full, high quality bar service to keep your guests suitably refreshed during your event. We have a great range of ales, lagers and ciders, along with a carefully selected wine list and all the classic spirits. We also offer a range of soft and hot drinks too. Unlike many venues, the bar operates a “fair pricing policy” to ensure you and your guests get great value for money.

If you have any special requests or require only soft or hot drinks, please let us know and we’ll price a package to fit your needs.

Please Note: The bar provides an important source of revenue for the charity. Unfortunately we cannot permit you or your guests to bring in drinks, alcoholic or otherwise for consumption inside the Hall. All drinks (including soft and hot drinks) must be purchased from the Hall bar.


We can offer your guests a welcome drink, a glass of something for a toast, wine for the tables or teas and coffees.

Welcome drinks are normally set out at the entrance of the Hall and offered by our staff to your guests on arrival. Wine for the tables is set out with glassware beforehand. To minimise disruption, we usually prepare toasts behind the bar and serve them to your guests ten minutes before any speeches. Teas/coffees are usually prepared at the side of the Hall for self-service at an agreed time.


We are also able to provide a “Free Bar” service. Should you wish to put a lump sum behind the bar for your guests to enjoy, we would recommended allowing a minimum of £3.00/person.

If you prefer, we can restrict the choice of drinks available to your guests or we can simply serve your guests a drink of their choosing up to an agreed amount.


Our standard licence is until 12am. If you would like the bar to stay open later please let us know.


All bar services must be confirmed in writing or by email 30 days prior to your event. Payments for all pre-purchased drinks and any free bar service must be made in full; in cash, by cheque, or by bank transfer, at least 14 days prior to your event.
